All artists, bands, music producers I need to call you to action, you need to get over immediately to Bandcamp and check out what’s on offer. This is not just another place to put your music it’s more of a ‘THIS IS YOUR SITE’ approach. Fans see your design, your music, your URL and you retain all ownership rights.
Music tracks are made available in various file formats and you can choose between giving away your music, setting a price, letting folks name their price – it’s up to you.
Fans are provided with easy tools to share your music with their friends, and most importantly it’s done in a way that drives the traffic back to you. There is also complete transparency into how your music is spreading.
They also show you where your fans are coming from, what they’re listening to, even which tracks they’re obsessed with versus which ones they’re skipping over. Now that’s the kind of info you should be taking note of plus they provide fast, dependable streaming and downloads of your entire catalogue, adorn your tracks with all the metadata they need to sail into iTunes with artwork, titles, and so on intact, and mutter the various incantations necessary to get your site top-ranked in Google.
This is the kind of service artists, groups, music producers in fact all music makers need so with Bandcamp taking care of business you can focus on your music. Check out www.bandcamp.mu Oh I forgot to mention, yep it’s free!
Music Money Link:
The general idea is Bandcamp will take a cut of download and merchandise revenue, but only from artists selling over a certain amount per month (right now they take nothing over Paypal’s transaction fees). They don’t know yet what that threshold will be, nor do they know what percentage cut they will take. They are more interested in getting the product out, getting feedback from users and will then sort it out.
Call to Action:
Watch this video introduced by Ethan Diamond from Bandcamp then get over there and get it sorted.
